On 15 June 2019, the town of Murau will open the muraubiennal culture festival for the second time.

Global Beer. Smooth brewing culture.

Everything you have ever wanted to know about beer! Or in other words: An exhibition festival on the history of beer around the globe, details of the brewing history of Murau, independent theatre performances, readings and other creative endeavours using beer as ‘fuel’. To top it off, beer artistry and smooth beers, with and without alcohol.

‘beer’ as a culture trail – theatrical, musical, culinary.

Murau has officially been a brewing town since 1298, and its inhabitants have been drinking Murauer beer since 1495. From 15 June until 12 October 2019, the muraubiennal culture festival will be dedicated to the global star beer.

The first signs of brewing activity date back to before Murau officially became a town in 1298.
